WHAT SIZE BULLY STICK SHOULD I FEED?
Bully sticks are moderately dense in calories, but the quality of those calories is high. Bully sticks are predominantly protein, which dogs use as a primary source of energy. While low in fat, they do have between 9-22 calories per inch. So if your dog is eating more than he should per day, as with any treat or even his food, he will likely gain weight.
We've created a table for some of the most popular breeds and which bully stick we would recommend as a daily treat.
GENERAL ADVICE
Rotate treats throughout the week to help balance the calories. Feeding a bully stick one can be balanced by feeding another the next.
Make healthy choices and practice moderation for your dog's best nutrition. The variation in his diet is worth it!
At T.Forrest we work with our suppliers to buy ingredients that might otherwise be thrown away. The reasons these parts would otherwise be thrown away is not because there is anything wrong with them, but because outside of the pet industry, there is little to no demand for them.
While there are some companies in the human food space that are working to use the whole animal, there are many body parts that are not considered appropriate for human consumption. We don’t know many people are interested in eating them pizzle.
While some people are dismissive of these so-called byproducts, we believe that when they are high in quality and from an ethical source, many animal body parts can become great chews for your dog!
This includes the beef pizzle that we use for bully sticks, along with hooves, trachea, and ears. We use every part of the animal, which helps farm operations become more sustainable.
